"Post All Bills" Exhibit Opening
Opening night for the Post All Bills Exhibit was incredible, despite it being 100 degrees outside, we had a ton of people come out for this amazing event that featured a gallery exhibit opening with live graffiti, live street art and music from MC Breon Warwick and DJ Soul Tronixx. Artpost had artwork posted inside and all around the outside of the gallery, making this a truly unique show. This was the first time that Graff/Street Art has been shown in a gallery in South Bend. It was a wonderful experience to have setup and been a part of, giving local graffiti and street art major strides in exposure and understanding. History was made last night in South Bend.

Pop-Up Art Shows Artist Collective

I've started a new artist collective called "Pop-Up Art Shows" that will focus on bringing together local weird artists for events and shows. We'll be doing live art throughout the city, at live music events and in the parks.

As always, this is completely free and I never charge artists anything for being a part of this collective. The main goal is to showcase our talent with our community, united like minded weirdos and help us grow together.

If you're interested in being a part of this art collective, please send me an email me with your name, pictures of your work and why you want to be a part of this.

Goshen Art Center Gallery Opening

Gallery opening at the Goshen Art Center on March 2, 2012

Goshen Art Center is excited to announce the opening of our March Exhibit featuring the works of artists Jason Schoppe and Dave Wilkinson, Friday March 2nd, 5 - 8 p.m. The exhibit will run through March 30th.
Gallery hours for this exhibit will be Wednesdays 12 to 5, and by appt:
317 358 6787 or 574 315 0124

Dave Wilkinson is primarily a stone carver living and working in the Benton Harbor, MI Arts District. The work in this show are dynamic Encaustic pieces from his series “Relapse and Recovery”,

new self portraits created around and examining his recovery from crack addiction, from which he has been clean for six years. ‘They reflect the frantic ugliness that surrounded me at that time. The image is incised into the layers of wax which have been applied over a lightly painted board, the background contrasting with the dark image, to evoke a sense of uneasy hope.’ Dave’s work has recently been shown at the Phoenix Café in Benton Harbor, and his series “Creatures” is presently on view at the Buchanan Art Center.

Jason Schoppe is a South Bend artist who infuses a variety of techniques without holding any allegiances to one particular method. At a young age, he fell in love with art as a way to fight off the prosaic mainstream of society and has used his art to find personal freedom through the beautiful struggles of everyday life. With over two decades of experience, Jason has created projects, inside and outside of his studio, in numerous different styles, such as photography, graphic design, music production, illustration, graffiti, mixed media collages and 3 dimensional. Some of his more recent work, which has been a revisit to an old high school passion, has been seen throughout the streets of Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit and all cities in-between as well as being recognized globally via the world wide web.

Art or vandalism? 'CAD' says he wants to inspire, motivate people

Art or vandalism? 'CAD' says he wants to inspire, motivate people
By Erin Blasko
South Bend Tribune Staff Writer

Looking like a bandit - black ball cap, sunglasses, mouth and nose concealed behind a black bandanna - the lean young man walks purposefully across Beutter Park in Mishawaka, removes his backpack and sets to work, uncommonly calm beneath the bright afternoon sun.

He removes a large but thin sheet of craft paper imprinted with an inspirational quotation and a colorful image of children dancing in the shade, and begins pasting it to a utility box next to the river, his only tools a small brush and something called wheatpaste.

Despite the fact that, technically, he is defacing public property, he does not seem concerned about getting caught. His brushstrokes are quick but calm, and, when finished, he steps back to wipe his hands and admire his work.
