Dave Wilkinson is primarily a stone carver living and working in the Benton Harbor, MI Arts District. The work in this show are dynamic Encaustic pieces from his series “Relapse and Recovery”,

new self portraits created around and examining his recovery from crack addiction, from which he has been clean for six years. ‘They reflect the frantic ugliness that surrounded me at that time. The image is incised into the layers of wax which have been applied over a lightly painted board, the background contrasting with the dark image, to evoke a sense of uneasy hope.’ Dave’s work has recently been shown at the Phoenix CafĂ© in Benton Harbor, and his series “Creatures” is presently on view at the Buchanan Art Center.

Jason Schoppe is a South Bend artist who infuses a variety of techniques without holding any allegiances to one particular method. At a young age, he fell in love with art as a way to fight off the prosaic mainstream of society and has used his art to find personal freedom through the beautiful struggles of everyday life. With over two decades of experience, Jason has created projects, inside and outside of his studio, in numerous different styles, such as photography, graphic design, music production, illustration, graffiti, mixed media collages and 3 dimensional. Some of his more recent work, which has been a revisit to an old high school passion, has been seen throughout the streets of Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit and all cities in-between as well as being recognized globally via the world wide web.
