New Dead Ghost Disfigures set
These ceramic figures were made in 1980 by Frances Hook for Ceramica
Excelsis. Each one is hand numbered from the company. This is a one of a
kind piece custom painted with acrylics and ink, sealed with varnish.
They're approximately 5" and 6.5" tall and are sold as a set. These make great add ons for my Wor$hip series of sculpture altars.
Back in the mid 1920's, late in the harvest season, two rambunctious farm kids had wondered far off the trail while playing in the woods. Not heeding the warning from their folks to stay close to the farm, they ended up getting lost in the dense Pacific Northwest woods. Deep in the Gorge just as the sun was beginning to set, they decided to try to head back but quickly realized they were lost.
After searching for the trail for hours, darkness had consumed the day, taking them deeper into the foreboding forest. After a little while, they stumbled upon a strange hut that was home to a malevolent witch of the forest. And this hag was a particularly nasty one, too. The poor kids were easily captured and were put into a rusty, old cage where she prepared them for the night's fest. Her lynx spider familiar was in for a delicious treat on this brisk, cool, autumn night.
The kids never returned home, bringing concern to the community. The local townsfolk searched the nearby forest and trails for months, but never found any clues to the kids whereabouts or anything else strange, except for a part of the woods that was covered in an unusual amount of cobwebs and spider nests. Nowadays, people spin tales of seeing a pair of ghost kids haunting the trails in the early night. Some have even mentioned hearing cries of distressed children off in the distance.
